Not all pneumatic conveying is the same: Each type of raw material has its own requirements that must be met. Some raw materials, for example, are "weaklings" and segregate easily. Still others are "free spirits" and flow freely. At AZO, we know these properties inside out and offer you the right conveying system for every requirement. And to convey even more efficiently in the future, we are working on an AI-based conveying system called Prometheus, which automatically adapts to the requirements of the raw materials.

Vacuum conveying systems are particularly useful where bulk materials are to be conveyed from several product feeding points to one discharge point. 

The variety of bulk materials and production processes requires different types of conveying. A basic distinction is made between flight, stream and strand conveying as well as dense phase conveying with and without bypass

Product feeding with vacuum conveying systems

Product feeding with a vacuum conveying system is simple and dust-free, as there is no overpressure.

Vacuum nozzles and reject pots are the cheapest way to feed the product. If the product is to be fed in a metered manner, product feeders, airlocks or metering screws are suitable.

Product discharge for pneumatic conveyors

The product is discharged via separators and, depending on the type of downstream process, can be operated in batch mode or continuously. Separators with pendulum flap, cone closure, closing flap or sluice are available for this purpose.

Separators for powdery products are equipped with filters that are cleaned by compressed air and allow continuous operation. For granular products, separators with basket filters and downstream secondary filters are used.

AZO pressure conveying systems

Pressure conveying systems are particularly useful where product is to be conveyed from one product feeding point to many delivery points over long distances. Since the product must be conveyed against the air pressure, airlocks or pressure vessels are required for product feeding. Product delivery, on the other hand, is simpler.

Product feeding for pressure conveying

The product is fed into the conveying line via a rotary valve against the conveying pressure. A rotary valve vent improves the product feeding.

This conveying system works very gently, with low segregation and at the same time saves energy. 

Due to the low product speed, dense phase conveying with very low product segregation is achieved. At the same time, both the product and the conveying tubes are protected.

AZO®MULTIAIR dense phase conveying

This conveying system operates very gently and with low segregation in the positive pressure range and is designed for long conveying distances and high conveying capacities.

It is particularly suitable for abrasive products, such as PVC dryblend and glass-fiber-reinforced granules, as well as for gentle, low-segregation pneumatic conveying of foodstuffs such as cereals, instant products, or milk powder.
